Irish Primroses
Many interesting cultivars have originated in Ireland. Some of the oldest ones we have date back to the beginning on the the 20th century and have been called 'Garryarde' primroses which were known for their dark foliage. We also have some interesting new additions such as 'June Blake' and quite a few of the the so-called 'Kennedy Irish Primroses'
Joe Kennedy has been breeding primroses in his back garden in Ireland for over 30 years. His distinctive plants are as robust as the Barnhaven range and often have a lovely dark foliage that works well in containers and in combination with other plants in the garden. He has been working in collaboration with Fitzgerald nurseries who are making his primroses popular all over the world, known simply as 'Irish Primroses'. We are very pleased to be able to offer them for sale so that you can enjoy them too.
